ARRANGEMENTS WELL FOSTYVaSD A large meeting ,jtook place is tlie Town Hall yesterday atfernoon for thp purpose of organising a campaign in aid of the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund. The Mayor occupied the chair, and explained "the objects of the meeting, and also briefly sketched the meGiods in connection with the Auckland-Wel-lington competitions now in progress. ' Mrs. J. K. Lowe was appointed Secretary of the Ladies' which expressed a desire that the General Committee should appoint a general secretary. It was ..resolved that Messrs Spiller and Blackwood be asked to act as joint secretaries to the General Committee. That the names of all present be added to the General Committee. That the Chairman, with Messrs Adams and Kitchingham, be a subcommittee to draw up rules and conditions and submit same to the Westland organisation, and further /report to the general meeting on Friday next. That the Chairman, Messrs Kettle, King, McLean, McKenzie, Tennant, Adams and Kitchingham be appointed a sub-committee to bring up a report for presentation to the general meeting on Friday. That the sub-committee meet on Tuesday afternoon at 4 pm. A general discussion took place rethe time allowed for the Trail. Westland having fixed August as the termination. The sub-committee were instructed to try to arrange an extension to 30th September, as it was felt that the time allowed, particularly at this season of the year, was too short to do justice to the work.
