MILITARY SERVICE.

THE REINFORCEMENT

DRAFTS

STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER.

lßy Electric Telegraph—Special to "Star."J

WELLIXGTOIs,

This Day

The Minister of .Defence, in a further statement to your correspondent on the reinforcements,, said: We shall not send the next reinforcements away in such larg-e drafts as we anticipated, but there is no reason to believe that wt shall reduce the drafts coming into camp, because some of these drafts are smaller than'.expected.'. We wish to avoid a shortage ini eamps. Later on it is possible we shall be able to drop one draft of. Class C men. We are arrangingto miss the December mobilisation so as to avoid bringing- men into camp for the Xmas holidays, when travelling- facilities are, difficult to arrange. This, however, depends on the casualties during: the present offensive.
