INANGAHUA SILVER BAND.

ANNUAL MEETING. (Our Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Band was held at the Band Boom on Tuesday evening, when there was a,good attendance of citizens, as veil as bandsmen. Mr. B. Wells (Band President) was voted to the chairThe Chairman read the notice convening the meeting and then gave a. short address, giving an outline of what had been done in band matters during the year." The Band, like other bodies, had felt the strain of the war, and the Baud roll of honour was well tilled by the names of members who were doing their duty to their country. Many of these members bad been soloists, and their places were correspondingly bard to fill. The thanks of members were, however* J - vr r. S. Austin, the conductor, who bad coached quite a number of young players sufficients to fill several of tlie vacancies, and be wa«s pleased to say some of these gave promise of being excellent players.

The Chairman then read the annual. report, which stated that the whole 'of the money due on the Band's silver instruments had been paid, thanks to the efforts of the ladies and gentlemen, who so ably came to the Band’s assistance. An addition had also been made to tlie Band Hall of a. room 24ft. by lift., which had been found necessary owing to the ball not proving sufficient for all requirements. The balance sheet showed the receipts) to be £2Ol ] Gs, and disbursements £IBB 10s 4d, leaving a credit balance of £l3 las 7d. while the liabilities totalled £36 8s 7dand assets were computed at £745 10s, which must be regarded as a most satisfactory state of affairs. The election of officers' resulted as follows:- —Patron, Mr F. B. Stafford; President. Mr. B. AY ells; Bandmaster Mr. .1. Williams; Deputy-Bandmaster, Mr. AY. C. Mitchell; Band Sergeant, Air Pascoe; Band Corporal, Air- Conway; Lance-Corporal. Mr. C. Potter; Librarians, Alessrs, Bran Powley and Dewar; Conductor. Air. S, Austin; Committee, the officers of the Band; Treasurer, Air. F. Boniofacio; Secretary, Air. J. Thomas. The salary of the Conductor was fixed at £25 per annum and of the Secretary £6.

Votes of thanks were passed to the President, to the Euchre Party Committee, to the AVays and Afeans Committee, and to the Ladies’ Committee. The statement of the AA T a.ys and Aleans Committee showed that the subscription and donations from its> inception totalled £231 2s 3d and the amount paid on account of the instruments to C. Begg and Co. was £220, the other expense being printing and advertising £5 8s 6d, insurance £1 17s 6d, bank charges and interert £1 7si, leaving a, credit balance of £2 10s ss. wbl" 1 ' li"r been transferred to the bank’s current account.
