MAKURA CROQUET CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above club was held in the pavilion on Monday afternoon, July Bth, 1918, ilrs SHallcrass (captain) in the chair. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. Tbe secretary's report showed that a number of resignations had been received during the year, which was regrettable, as the club, which had worked so laboriously for patriotic funds, needs the united snpport of all members in these difficult times. v The balance, sheet showed a small credit balance, and after considerable discussion the members decided to raise a small sum each during the winter months by private entertainment or sale of work to pay for the caretaker’s work on the lawns. The championship single was won by Mrs Alabin with Airs Thomas runner-up. The championship doubles were won by Airs Tennent and Airs Austin, and the handicap doubles by Alrs.E, J. Smith and Mrs Tennent. \ The election of officers for the season 1918-1919 was air follows : —Captain, Airs Shallcrass; secretary, Airs Allan Smith : treasurer, Mrs Griffon; committee. Alosdames McKay, Tennent, Wilkes and Aliss Sheedy. The usual vote of thanks terminated the meeting.
