The sun sets to-day at 7.7 p.m. ; rises to-morrow at 5.23 a.m. THE MOON. The moon rises to-day at 8.36 a.m. ; sets to-morrow 8.50 a.m. LOCAL REPORT. The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 89 degrees, and the mini mum 44. The barometer registered 30.10in5., and the thermometer 61 degrees. The rainfall last month was 3.43 inches, on 9 days, as compared with 3.49 inches in January last year. WEATHER REPORT. Grcymouth—Wind, east, light breeze barometer, 29.91; thermometer, 61; tides, good ; bar, moderate swell. Westport. —Calm ; barometer, 29.93 ; thermometer, 67; tides, high ; bar, moderate. WFATHER FORECAST. The indications are for freshening and variable and strong breezes, but south-easterly winds moderate to strong prevailing. The we a the i' appears likely’ to be cloudy and unsteady. Sea rough off shore, and a storm appears to ho approaching from the north, chiefly affecting the North Island.
