MONTHLY MEETING. [Our Own Correspondent.] The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held at the County Chambers yesterday morning' tit 11 o'clock- Present: Crs G. B. Mclnroe (chair), H. Belts, J. Patterson, R. Watson, W. Irving, T. Batman. From Rev- Father Galenic asking to have his name removed from the Ratepayers' Electoral Roll for the Riding of Reef ton and Antonios, and the name of Rev- Father Eccleton inserted thereon. From P. Coghlan, request for alteration of electoral roll for the Riding of Boatmans with respect to sections 22 and 2-'J, by removing liis name therefrom and inserting the name of Elizabeth

Coghhui thereon. Cr Patterson moved that subject to the County Solicitor's opinion being favourable, the necessary amendments be made. Seconded by Cr Bannan and carried. From 11. S. Castle thanking the Council for letter of condolence on the loss of his son at the war. —Received. From the Red Cross organisation asking for assistance in making an appeal for ceivedFrom P. J. From the New Zealand Counties' Association re uniform system of keeping County accounts and asking for suggestions thereon.—Received. • From same; asking for figures relating to premiums paid and amount of compensation received for accidents, with a view to establishing a mutual accident and insurance association. —Resolved that the information asked for be supplied. Atkinson forwarding specimen copy of improved time sheet for workmen employed by the Council. —ReceivedFrom the Engineer of the Grey County Council inquiring if the Council would be likely to hire the plant for a shorter period than three months, so that the

rent would not exceed £IOO. A later letter agreed to rent the machine for one month, with the - option of retaining it for three months if satisfactory.—Cr Patterson moved that the Grey County's offer be accepted—Seconded by Cr Watson and carried- , From James Colvin, M-P-, Waimea County Council, Buller County Council, and Nelson City Council, supporting the application to link no the telephone system between Reef ton and Nelson. —ReceivedFrom the Postmaster-General to James Colvin, MP-, that the

From the County Solicitor re application of John Harris for remission of coal royalty, that he is of opinion that the Council Juts no power to recommend such remission.—Received. From the same re Gilmour road that he has received no further word from Wellington re the land reouired—Received. From the same re "ravel reserve, section 87, Block X, Reefton S\D. (Locking-ton's Estate), that he is inmiiring into the matter incidental to completion of transfer. —Received. From the same, re road from Puller Road to Inangahua River, that he has communicated with the owners of hinds required for the purposes of the road, etc—Cr Betts moved that the County Clerk write to the owners of the property required for road, and as it is desirable to make a straight road through Mr Crumpton's property thatthey make arrangements accordingly, the Engineer to visit the road and nomt out requirements. —Seconded' by Cr Patterson and carried.
