Regarding Territorial officers under 20 years of age, the following general insitruction liasi been issued by 1 defence Headquarters: "In reply to questions regarding tho disposal of officers who are at pi esent under military age hut who will shortly be attaining the age of twenty it is■ notified for general information' that, it is, not considered advisable to appoint such young officers! to direct commissions on reinforcemeiu drafts. On attaining the age of twenty these gentlemen should not bo attested as officers. They will proceed to camp as ordinary recruits in accordancewith the regulations and instructions! laid down under the Military Service Act. On arrival in camp they will he afforded the same opportunities for promotion as other memhcis of reinforcement drafts. It is directed that in each case where such an officei proceeds to camp as a. private a letter shall he forwarded by bis District Commander to the Camp Commandant concerned, setting out Tus former service as an officer and making a short report on his qualificafhtis. At the- same time advice should he forwarded to Headquarters, notifying compliance .with these instructions.
