EOTJIt SEAMEN OVERCOME. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A lire broke, out last evening in tlie hold of a steamer now at Auckland. It had been smouldering for .some time, and men had been engaged discharging cargo, with a view to reaching the burning material. An hour afterthey had started work a volume of smoke issued from tlie hatch. Tlie City Fire Brigade was summoned and several holes cut in the deck. Through these and Hie hatch water was poured into the hold. Towards midnight the (ire appeared to have abated, but the brigade cantinued its operations with a view of flooding the burning cargo.
