[Our Own Correspondent.] DAIRY FACTORY. The Kumara Daily Factory started the season's operations to-day. Indications point to another vciy profitable season. PERSONAL; The many friends of Mm Hell, of Main Street, will rt'oTet to hear of
her serious illness, which is causing her family much concent. DOMINION DAY. Yesterday being the tenth anniversary on which the colony of New Zealand was created a Dominion, the children of the various schools assembled at the Town Hall for the purpose of saluting the (lag. Although the weather was anything but favorable, thp hall was packed. At the request < I' the Mayor, the proceedings! were opened by the singling of the National Anthem, after which speeches were delivered by Mr. Seebeck (Headmaster), Revs. Wilson and Knight, an ( ] his Worship the Mayor, remindiu'f lip, children of their privileges and duties as citizens of the Domiu-i-"1. The speakers- also made special reference to the crisis through which tin- Empire wasi passing, and the need for self-denial and help on the part of everyone in order to assist- in alleviating the hardships and- sufferings! of our brave and sailors 1 , who were daily risking their lives for our safety and freedom. Mr. Sims (Chairman of (he School Committee),' in moving a vote of (hanks U, (he gentlemen who had helped to make the function a success, trusted 11*sit before another annua! meeting in connection with Dominion Day celebrations, the war at present raging would be over and the result a glorious victory for Great Britain and her Allies, and that when the blessing of peace came, it would be an everlasting peace, and war be known 1m more. The children, after saluting (he flag, were liberally supplied with lollies and the meeting dispersed.
