GREY MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

MONDAY, MARCH 19th, ]9IV. (Before Mr T. Hutchison, S..M i IXSOBRIETV. A Roa resident, who pleaded guilty to a charge nf helpless drunkenness, antl who h:.d undergone medical treatment in Mie interim, was convicted, fined 10s. ami or dered to pay £3 6s Cd coats of medical ireatment. A resident of Blackhall. who pleaded iruilty to having been drunk in Mawhera Juav on Maiili 18tli. was convicted and lined 10s. WAXDERIXfi TATTLE. Arthur Cournbe pleaded not guilty to charges of allowing two horses to wander in Fox Street. Cobden, on February 26th. To a second charge or' allowing a filly to wander in Nelson Quay. Cobden, on March 4th, defendant pleaded not guilty. Constable Fryor said the filly was one o\ the offenders in the first charge. This tii 3 defendant admitted, but .stated he was l.ot the owner off the other horse, and that the fiily would give no fm\her trouble, as he had sent it to Barrytown, Convicted and fined 5s on each charge.

"NOT TRANSFER A BLE. - ' Denis Movpihan. who did not appear, was charged that on February 27th last he did travel on the Otira-Greymonth railway line with a ticket transferred by another person, and on a second-information with evading payment of the proper fare. Evidence was given by Cuard Roy and Constable Fvypr, who stated the defendant had travelled on a pass which had been issued to a man named Duncan for service from Trentham to Hokitika. The defendant had been in civilian clothe; and the pass proffered was such as is issued to soldiers on final leave. Defendant afterwards paid his fare from Otira to Hokitika, Convicted and fined £l.
