FIRE AT KUMARA.

AT MR SPIERS' GARAGE. CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. KUMARA, This Day. A lire started at 2.50 o'clock on Sunday afternoon in Mr A. B. Spiers' Garage, containing five motor cars. On the lire being discovered the door was promptly forced open and four of the cars removed out cf danger. One car, however, a Marathcn, took fire, the whole of the bodv being destroyed. The Eire Brigade were quickly on the scene, and, with a strong supply of water, Boon had the fire under control, making a r»ood save of Mrs Phelnn's residence and Keech and Malloy's store. Besides the car referred to. Mr Spiers lost his stock of lyres, recently purchased. The total damage about £2OO, with, no insurance. Mr Spiers, in effecting the removal v t tyres from the fire, was badly burned about the arms and head.
