uidlring from the numerous meetings she is conducting during her itinerary through out the Dominion in the interests of the Church's important work there. Miss Wright 'arrived in Kumara on the Monday ."and while here was the guest of Mrs IJurrell, of Church Street. The lady missionary's time is usually fully taxed, but fortuhat-oly for our young folks she had a little time to spare that afternoon, which she utilised in their interests. Having caused an intimation to be made that &Ue would give a special address to children in the "church during the afternoon, the children rose to the occasion, and, despitu the necessarily short notice given J'-ss Wrh-ht had a" large congregation of juveniles who were intensely interested in tier address, which r-ihe aptly illustrated with idol.; and other Chinese curios. Mis... Wright having been suitably thanked on the children's behalf, the meeting was brought to a close in the usual way. On™ the Tuesday Miss Wright, dressed in Chinese costume, addressed a meeting of the t'.YV.M.U., Mrs Sims presiding. The address chiefly dealt with the conditions under which Chinese women and children live in tiie L-lowery Land, which proved most interesting to her audience. A vote of thanks and a pledge to take adeeper interest ill the C.V.M. was the On Wednesday evening a public meetin- wa fi held in the church, Mr Kimjiit being in the chair. After preliminaries were''disposed of, the Chairman introduced Miss Wriydit to the comparatively large audience, although, indeed, after her previous meetings she really needed neither introduction nor commendation from him. Miss Wright then, with great ease and effect, held the meeting spellbound for two hours, during which she gave a most ontci'Laininjr and enlightening address on ib,. iv.ulf o 7 the mission she so ably repre-

sents. making due reference to the various prejudices and superstitions so prevalent among the Chinese, and also the difficulties and encouragements met with in tiie Chinese held. At the close, after a few laudatory words by the chairman. i heartv vote if thanks was, in a few Wellchosen words, proposed by -Mrs Muraot «, and canted by acclamation. As might have been expected, the collection taken up on behalf of the Mission was a liberal one. The meeting thereafter closed with the Benediction. Taken altogether. Miss Wrhrht's visit will prove a sunny mewury io the people of Kimiara.
