EVIDENCE NOT PUBLISHED.
STATLMLXT BY MR POXAR LAW. LOXDOX, Afar,-]! LA Mr _Ponar Law, replying to Mr Asquith, said that the Commissioners did not recommend tin* publication of the evidence, because it contained portions dealing with naval and military considerations and the Government’s relations with the Allies. It would therefore not be possible to publish it without detriment to the public interest. In the circumstances the Government was not prepared to order the publication. A member asked whether it was wise to issue the report. Mr Bonar Law: "The Government was hound by the Act creating the Commission- Air Churchill was responsible tor the excisions.” Mr Bonar Law said the incisions had been made at the request of the Foreign Office, the Whir Office and the Admiralty, but the Cabinet bad finally been responsible. Mr Pemberton Pilling* asked if the name of the Minister and exMinlster appeared in the excisions. Mr Ponar Law: “I cannot answer such a question.”
