Mr Hughes informed a deputation from the Australian Protectionist Association that he b<<lioved that the time had arrived for a restriction on the importa-, tion of luxuries. He could not see the justification of the importation of £1,500,000 worth ot silks in six months, also the iin-, portation of over £2,000,000 worth of motor cars and accessories during the last six, months .._ The Government would consider immediately the prohibition oj the importation of luxuries.
