[AUSTIIALIAN AND N.Z, CABLE ASSOCIATION.] LIQUOR CONTROL. WASHINGTON, February 21.—The Senate has missed the “Bone-dry” Amendment Bill, prohibiting shipment of liquor-into the States already having prohibition. The Act makes absolutely “dry” fifteen more States, which now allow importations of liquorin limited quantities. A total of twenty-two States, comprising onethird of the area of the United States, will hereafter be absolutely dry. This is the first' stop ever taken by the Federal Government to exercise control of liquor in Uao States, UNOPPOSED ELECT TON. LONDON. February 21. —The Coalitionist candidate. Colonel Stirling Keir, has been returned unopposed for West Perthshire. HOUSE OF LORDS. LONDON, February 21.—The House of Lords lead a second time the Mission and Ecclesiastical Bill. The Archbishop of Canterbury explained that the object of temporarily restricting Church services would enable more young clergymen to participate in national service. Lord Buckmaster’s Bill, removing sex disqualification for admission as solcitors, was read for the first time.
