HAWKES BAY SEAT
PROBABLE CANDIDATES.
ATTITUDE OF REFORM PARTY,
WELLINGTON. February 21
Sir John Findlay has telegraphed his acceptance of nomination for the Hawkes Bay seat as Government nominee. Mr. Jull has definitely withdrawn. Mr. H. M. Campbell.held a meeting last night and announced that he wilj oppose Sir John Findlay. The Hawkes Bay branch of the Reform Le;Jgue has handed the following statement to the Press:—"An agreement was come to between the leaders of the Liberal and Reform parties that during the term of the National Ministry any seat held by either of the respective parties should go when vacant to that party, without opposition from the other. The Hawkes Bay seat having become vacant through the death of the Hon. Dr. K- McNab, the Liberal Party has the right of nominating. Sir John Findlay, having been nominated as the official. Liberal cnadidate, the Reform League will in no way oppose his election and in the circumstances urges all supporters of the-Reform Party to vote for 'him." Mr. Simson is still in the field, and jt is reported here that Mr. Atmore, of Nelson, intends standing in.the Labour interests.
