Mr Candler, writing from Mesopotamia, says: Our attack on the Dahr Loop was followed,by a Big northward drivje, which pushed 'back the Turks to their last Tigris stronghold. „' -/' 'Their resistance was,, of the slightest. The Turks are surrendering to our advancing infantry waves, en masse, a whole line waving white rags l . The gunners attempted to prevent , this by shooting down the surrenderee, but the prisoners informed the British: "You; have too many guns. We don't wish to counter attack." ' ;,' : , .' There were similar scenes at the second attack on the right flank in the afternoon, the Turks throwing away their rifles and leaving.the trenches as our infantry advanced. The prisoners, almost , outnumbering them, doubled past the attackers, running the gauntlet of their own guns and flapping white rags till they reached the British trenches, surrendering* with laughing, cheerful gestures, some even dancing. , ■ Y
