ADDINttTON STOCK MAKIitT. KEEN COMPETITION FOR STORE SHEEP. CHRISTCHURCH, February 21. Messrs Matson and Co, report as follows respecting yesterday's sale : Fat Cattle. —There was afenedium yarding, of whicjh the quality was poor. Prices for" best lots were equal to last week, and finished lots were decidedly oasier. Best steers brought from £l9 to £22 2s -6d, medium £l6 to-'£lß, best heifers to £l6, medium £ll to £l4; best cows £ls, ordinary £lO to £l2. Fat Sheep.—There was a 'medium market, and the quality was, indifferent; prices were equal to last week and generally in excess of freezing prices. Prime wethers 35s to 39s 6d, medium 30s to 33s 6d lighter sorts 27s 6d to 30s.'ewes (litest) 32s to 375; medium 28s to 31s 6d ; lighter sorts 24s to 27s 6d. Store Cattle.—■ Medium yarding and no really good lines. There was a good demand for forward cows, but young cattle were'easier. Three-year, heifers up to £lO ss; three-year steers £lO 12s ;6d: ■eighteen months £5 5s to £6 ss; forward cows to £9 10s; store cows £5 to £7. Store Sheep.—The market opened at closing rates of last week, and hardened as the sale proceeded, and throughout to its termination all reliable lines of breeding ewes, and 'all- forward and. well-grown lambs met with keenest competition at prices in . excess .of feceut rates. , (.food rape lambs 22s to 24s Bd, medium 18s to 21s 6d, forward wethers 27s to 27s 6d, ordinary 2os to' 26s 6d', good sound-mouth ewes 29's to 345, forward rape ewes 21s to 22s 6d.
