EXPORT OF SHEEPSKINS
PERMITS SUSPENDED. WELLINGTON. February 17. In connection with the Government scheme for the purchase of sheepskins on behalf of the Imperial Government, it. is being found that, owing to outside speculative buying, sulliciept sheepskins for the purposes of the Government are not coming forward for purchase. The export of pells is already 1 prohibited except under permit, and ill view of the position it has been decided to stop the issue of all permits for the export of pickled pelts, except in regard to those from skins already fellmongered or those which the Government is reasonably satisfied• are derived from sheep and lambs slaughtered in meat export Slaughterhouses.
