The latest enlistment at the Greymouth Defence Office is Daniel Twomey, of Capleston. Word has been received to the effect that Private Alex. Watters, non of Mr and Mrs A. Watters, of Wellington, formerly of Kumara, has been seriously wounded in France. His-Lordship Bishop Julius, of Christchurch, arrived hack yesterday morning from his visit L't South Westland. Word . has been received that .Lieut. Athol Hudson, son of the late? Dr Hudson and Mrs Hudson, of Tapawera, Nelson, has been killed in action. Lieut. Hudson was' an “old hov” of the Nelson College and Waitaki High School. He was selected as the 1915 Rhodes Scholar from Victoria College. Mr E. A, Appleton, of Gibson Quay, Hokitika, yesterday received a telegram from the Minister of Defence stating that his. son, Sevgt. Robert Appleton, had been wounded in the shoulder and right frm, and' was admitted to hospital oh July 11th. Sergt. Appleton left New Zealand with the Main Body, and wept right through the Callinoli campaign.
