Sir, —The misplacing of one letter in a, quotation 1 used in my letter yesterday, has. so altered its sense that 1 must "ask you to' kindly give me space to put it right. “And Freedom shrieked (not shirked) when Koscuisko fell.” Several persons spoke to me yesterday and expressed a wish to assist in placing a-monument of some kind over the .grave of the deceased, John Maher. Upon enquiring at the Defence Office, I was not at all surprised to learn that this had Already been taken in hand. Arrangements ■'a 1 been Ynado by Captain W. C. S. Colcloug’u, ' Officer Commanding at , CreymouUi, to have a photo taken of the funeral, to be sent to the lad’s mother, and with the Patriotic -Society to havo the oilier work done. Deeds that won the 1 Empire.—l am, etc.,
