"THANK YOU SO!"

GIFTS FROM THE WEST COAST.

TO THOSE IN DISTRESS

Miss Perkins, Mayoress, has received the following acknowledgments of five cases, Nos. 14, 15, 10, 17, 18, out of the last eight consigned from Greymouth to the "Home and Belgian Relief Fund." Another case, No. 13, must also have arrived safely, as one of the children who sent a doll has received a letter from a little Belgian girl, and the toys were packed in case No. 13. The letters speak for themselves, and it must be very gratifying to all those who have helped with this deserving cause to know that they have helped in their little way to relieve some of the awful distress caused by the present war. 112, Strand, W.C. London. November 9th, 1915. Dear Madam, —We have to thank you most gratefully for your splendid gift of clothes, which arrived yesterday. This is case No. 14. The contents are of great value to us and are very much appreciated. We beg of you to continue working for us, as our need is so urgent and will be till this terrible war is ended. Will you kindly convey our warmest thanks to all those who have so generously contributed to this good gift. With renewed thanks to all givers,— Yours faithfully, H. S. NICHOLLS. War Refugees Committee. Women's Emergency Corps, The French Chapel, Carton Street, Off Baker Street, W. November 10th, 1915.

Dear Madam,—l write as you requested to say that we have received, through the kindness of Mr.- Cameron, four cases sent by you and the ladies of Greymouth, Nos. 15, 16, 17, IS. I need hardly say that the contents have eben most useful and Ave have been very grateful for them, as we are still continuing this work throughout the winter. We have already provided between 5000 and 6000 Belgians with clothing, and still new ones keep coining to us, and anything we have not been able to use we have passed on to other charitable institutions, such as the Salvation Army, the Blind Institute, and the Gwen Wilson Charity in Plaiston. So, as you will see, your kindness has gone far and wide. The ladies of New Zea-

land have been most generous, and we do not know what we should have done without their and the ladies of Australia's kind assistance during this time. I am hoping that some of the kind donors of gifts may hear from the little Belgian children, as they requested. We asked them when we gave them the garments to write to the address, so I hope they may have done so. It is quite easy for them to do so, as during their stay in England they have all learned English. The children have picked it up in a most marvellous way. If you woud care to hear anything further about our work here and would writ© to me, I will be pleased to tell you about it, as I have been here since we iirst opened this department. Again thanking you for your generosity. —Yours very truly, LILY I<\ MACDONALD. In charge, Belgian Clothing Dept., The French Chapel, London.
