The report of the Dcpartment"s Inspector of Manual and Technical Instruction was received. The report as a whole was highly satisfactory, especially in respect to the Westport schorl, which was all that could bo desired, its standard being seldom attained in primary schools. The Inspector complimented both the teachers and thepupils of the Reefton evening; classes on the commercial work and stated that the dressmaking was fairly successful. A report from the Medical Inspector of Schools was received, marked "confidential."—The Board decided to ask the Department to cogent to the contents of the report being made available to school committees. The secretary reported that the average attendance during the December quarter had been the highest on record. An offer by Rotokohu residents to build a new school provided the Board finds the material was received. —Mr. Scantlebury was instructed when in Wellington to interview the Minister and urge the necessity for this school, also to bring before the Minister the condition of the teacher's residence at Beef ton. Miss Ryan was appointed temporary teacher at Waiuta in place of Mr. Mcßean, who has enlisted. The names of Misses O'Leary and O'Donnell were ordered to be submited to the Ikamatua Committee, and Miss Agnes Bishop's name to the Cronadun Committee. Miss Panckhurst and Master Baden Pennev were recommended by the Inspector for appointment as probationer and pupil teacher respectively at the Reefton School.
