Included in the • improvements noted, is the removal ot , flio second grandstand a distance ot about 100 feet further towards the golt f links. This has bad the desired ef- , fort; of about doubling the area of the ; lawns as well as making room for a : new and up-to-date totalisator bouse, a contract for which latter has been 5 let to Mr. I’. Moran for £339. This 1 building will be 43ft. by 26ft., and 1 when it is mentioned that Die old “tote” house is a building of 15ft. by ’ 30ft. it will be seen at a glance that . (lie replacing structure will be more [ commodious and in every way superior. A new silent machine (capable of cloal- • ing with £20.000 per day) will he ini stalled, and in this respect will be in- ■ finitely bettor and preferable to the 1 old methods, in addition to which the ’ investing public will appreciate the • extra facilities to be provided in the way .of purchasing tickets and collocts ing dividends —when they “strike ’em” —for the ground space round the machine house lias also been considerably enlarged. Another innovation bv this Club will be a dividend board raised above the roof of the totalisalorliouse. A new judge's box is to be erected practically on the site of the old one, and will be equipped with a numerical system to indicate flic numbers of the placed horses immediately after a race. A small fence will enclose the new judge’s box. Another verv noticeable improvement is the extension of the lawns Irom the main stand towards the main entrance. Extra room lias been provided for hero and altogether the lawns have boon more than doubled in area. Another noted new work is the enlarging of the bird cage, which, when finished, will be dolblcd in area, finis providing more room lor the horses on parade as well as giving the public better facilities to “pick their iancies.” Track improvements will consist in the ploughing, of the inner or training track as well as providing hurdles and brush fence for schooling purposes. This latter provision is being undertaken at tin' request, of owners and, should sufficient inducement offer, in all probability a hurdle event will be reinstated in the future 'programmes of the Club.
