HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID
THE INANGAHUA BOARD. The usual monthly meeting of the above Bond was held at Reefton on Thursday evening, there being present : Messrs Scantleb lry (Chairman). Belts, Pagan. Wicken, Irving, Mirfin, and O'Regan. The report of the town committee with ir.-pect to the complaint of Mr J. Von .Stunner was received. Mr Betts said he did not agree with the latter portion of the report referring to the Matron, as, in his opinion, she only carried out her duties, and more especially seeing that she had received no notification from the Medical Superintendent of having granted special leave to Mrs Von Stunner. The control of the institution must be left in the hands of the staff.
Mr Fagan stated he did not think it right for any member of the Board to criticise the action of the Town Committee, as they wera present and heard the evidence, which Mr Betts did not. Mr Betts stated he .formed his conclusion from the repoit of the enquiry that was published in the newspapers, which would be a correct report. The matter then dropper.
Correspondence was received from the Auckland and Palmerston North Boards, advising the admission into their hospitals of residents from the Reefton district. It was resolved that the Palmerston North Board be notified that this Board has no knowledge of the person mentioned having resided in the district. The'resignation of Miss Meehan as probationer was received, and it was decided to invite applications for the position. The plans for the Nurse's Home at Waiuta were laid on the table, and it was moved by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Fagan* and carried, that tenderr be invited for the erection of the Home. The -Chairman reported on the result of the meeting of the Public Health Committee at Grevmouth, and said that the services of Mr Fletcher, the District Health Officer, had been granted for tinsupervision of the erection of the Nurse'. l Home.
The secretary presented ths estimate*? receipts and expenditure of the Board for the year ending March 31st, 1915. Received.
The acceptance of tenders for supplies to the institution was held over till today, and, after passing the accounts, the meeting adjourned.
