THE SUN. The sun sets to?day at 4.33 p.m., and rises to-morrow at 7.23 a.m. THE UOON. The moon sets at 5.43 p.m. to-day, and rises at 10.14 a.m. to-morrow. LOCAL REPORT. The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 52 degrees, and the mini-: mum for the night was 42 degrees. At 9 o'clock this morning the barometer regis tered 30.22 in., and the thermometer 47 degrees During the four months of this year ending April 30th rain fell on 49 days, the total being 29.15 inches. Rain has fallen on nine days this month, the total being 4.30 inches. WEATHER REPORT. WESTPORT.—Wind, south-south-east, light; barometer 30.29; thermometer 40 ; tides noor j bar smooth. GREYMOTJTH.—Wind, east, light breeze ; barometer 30.22 ; thermometer 47; tides moderate; bar moderate. WEATHER FORECAST. The Dominion Meteorologist last night telegraphed the following weather summary :— "A low pressure area passed south of New Zealand on Monday night, but anti-cyclonic conditions still prevail. Fair to cloudy weather has been experienced generally, though unsettled conditions ruled in Southland last night." Mr D. C. Bates wired at noon to-day ns follows:—

The indications are for variable and moderate breezes, "but" northerly winds moderate to ourong prevailing. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather. The night will probably be very cold with frosts inland and increasing haze and cloudiness. The barometer has a falling tendency. Sea and tides moderate.
