HOBART, This Day.—A tragic disaster occurred to the steamer Huon, 720 tons. when returning with a full load of fruit for transhipment, together with eight passengers. She turned turtle and sank, precipitating the passengers and crew into the water. The weather was dead calm. The Excella lowered a boat and saved all but three, viz., Mrs Gilon, her son aged 4 years, and Mrs Fysh. It is believed that they rushed into the hold and were taken down with the steamer. Mrs Gillon had another child aboard, nine years of ago, who was the only one of the family saved to meet the father waiting on the wharf. The cause of the disaster is unknown.
