POST AND TELEGRAPH RETURNS. ex rsusaiiAjra— ph.& prehh aksociatio> CHRISTCHURCH, April 23. Speaking at the ceremony of unfurling of tlie flag tit Springfield this afternoon the Postmaster-General (Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes) announced the return of the. Post and Telegraph revenue for the financial year 1913-14. The returns, he said, which hid just been compiled, disclosed a very satjsfuc.ory position. Revenue from all branches totalled £2,269,102. exceeding the K.sli mates by £23,102, and while it exceeded the revenue of the previous y ear by £102 ; 038 the increase was general. Each item of revenue exceeded that ol the previous year, as the following particulars showed : Postage stamps £47,982 Tele» rams 20,260 Postal miscellaneous 2,509 Telegraph miscellaneous 384 Total increase 102,088 The announcement was received with applause. Continuing, the Postmaster-General said that the country was at present veiy prosperous, lie wa.s pleased to note the marked signs of prosperity in the Spring field district despite the fact that he crops had suffered somewhat.
