TO THE ELECTORS OF THE BOROUGH. OF; GREYMOUTH. Ladies and Gentlemen, — AT the request of a number of the electors of the Borough, I am a Candidate for the Mayoral Chair at the election to be held on the 29th inst, and respectfully seek your support. Having served nearly nine years as Councillor, I may reasonably claim to have a fair knowledge of the affairs of the Borough and its requirements. Being amongst the largest ratepayers it will be my aim to see that your affairs are carefully administered. In view of the urgency of the Cobden. Bridge re-construction the financial position of the Borough precludes any further loan expenditure for some time to come, but I hope to be able to show you, if elected, that without in any way curtailing, but rather enhancing the efficiency of the water works especially, a very considerable saving can be eiLcted and turn what is now, and has been for three years, a serious loss into a very fair profit. The matter of swimming baths will have my heartiest support, as I believe they will be very beneficial and can be made self-supporting. In this connection I am only too pleased to do all that I can to advance the interests of clean legitimate sport. Yours faithfully, DAVID TENNENT. Greymouth, April 23rd, 1914.
