REEFTON SCHOOL OF MINES

' A meeting of the Council of the Reefton School of Mines was held on Thursday, when there were present Messrs W. F. Brett (President), R. Burley,-G. Buchan, A. Perotti, W. J. Morris, T. H. Lee and J. McPadden (Director.) ■lnward correspondence was read from the Mines Department, stating that space had been provided by the Government at the Auckland Exhibition for models, etc., from students of the School of Mines. Also advising that BIG had been voted towards the expenses of the delegate at the recent Conference of Schools’ of Mines held at Wellington. The report of the Conference delegate, Mr. J. McPadden, was received. The balance-sheet for the half year was read, showing i\> credit-balance of £24 12s 5d on 30th June, 1913.—Received and adopted. Members expressed their appreciation at a credit balance, especially as the bank book to date showed a. credit of some £96.

Messrs Brett, Bishop, Buchan and the Director were appointed a subcommittee to draw up specifications for improvements to the School. The Instructor’s report showed that there, were ‘25 students attending the School and a number of assays made for the month of September.
