ELECTION OF BOROUGH COUN CILLOR.
Mr tennent elected. ' The by-election of Councillor to fill the vacancy on the Grey Borough Council, vice the late F. W. Keddell, took place Yesterday. Considering the very wet wea--1 her and the lack of any public or Borough policy matters being enthused into Hie contest, the polling was comparatively large, the bulk of the voters going to the fK»ll late in the afternoon. ■Roughly, the number who exercised their votes was 52 per cent., 1774 going to the poll out of a roll number of 3412. Shortly after eight o'clock the Returning 'Officer announced the-result to .a large 'uimber of electors, the totals showing * bat Mr D. Tennent had secured a majority .ok 346 votes over the-, number record"d tf)l‘ favor of Mr Behan. The detailed figures are as follows:
Roth candidates briefly returned thanks -nd cheers were given for them, and a "hte? of thanks accorded the returning officer.
