REEFTON MINING REPORTS.

ST. GEORGE. For the week the low level has been extended 15ft on a good reef formation 3ft wide with a considerable amount of broken quartz. The eastern crosscut has been extended 10ft, total 108 ft from the main level, through good reefing country. JUST-IN-TIME. For the week the western crosscut has been extended 18ft, making total 80ft from the south drive. The country passed through is much the same as last reported, and looks likely for a reef at any time. NEW DISCOVERY. The winze from No. 1 level has been sunk a further distance of 10ft 6in,. making a total depth to date of 42ft Bin. The walls are still running down, and the reef is still in the face, but not so big as last week, it having carried away a little to the south of the winze, but the formation is still good, a little better than last week. It is carrying plenty of minerals, hut is of a flint-like nature, altogether a good reef-bearing country. KEEP-IT-DARK. Mine reports four weeks to December 2nd, 1911: Sloping has been carried on over and below No. 7 level. — The. stone in the slopes above No. 7 level has nan-owed to what it was formerly, but it lias the appearance of widening again. The stone in the slopes below No. 7 level is six or seven feet wide of clean stone. No. 2 winze, new find.—No. 7 level south has been sunk nine feet. There is a strong body of stone here, and no sign of the hanging wall. No. 8 level has been pro : duced 99ft, total distance from main shaft 119 ft. The ground here has been changeable. The past week it has been good driving. Repairs are being carried on at different parts of the mine. 382 tons of quartz have been sent to the battery and 352 tons crushed, for a return of 91oz 3dwt of melted gold from the battery, and 340 z 18dwt bullion from cyanide, total 1260 z 18dwt. The Progress crushed 3070 tons, yielding 4290 z 16dwt of bullion valued at £1746 Is 3d and cyanided 2165 tons, yielding 2700 z 19dwt bullion valued at £769 19s. The estimated value of sulphurets produced (32 tons) is £561. WEALTH OF NATIONS. The Wealth of Nations crushed 2225 tons, yielding 7290fc 6dwt of bullion, valued at £2984 6s lOd, and cyanided 1428 i ms, yielding 2480 z 16dwt of bullion, valued at £B6O 8s Bd. The estimated value of sulohurets produced (nine tons) u £135. BLACKWATER. The Blackwater crushed 3059 tons, yielding 13710 z 13dwt of bullion, valued at £5682 14s lOd and cyanided 1704 tons, yielding 1940 z 16dwt of bullion, valued at £533 5s 3d. The estimated value of sulphnrets produced is . £390. A COMPARATIVE STATEMENT. The subjoined particulars regarding the returns from the mines mentioned should prove of interest to those interested in the industry.
