Mr. and Mrs 0. W. Mow were, passengers .by to-day’s Otira express, en route for Timaru and Dunedin.

The friends of Mrs E. Low, of Kokin, who has been confined to he rhome for some days past, will regret, to learn that there is no improvement in her condition. Sir 1 George Clifford, Bart., Messrs J. Rowe, A. E. Cohen, and J. Nolan, members of the Racing Commission, will arrive in Greymouth about Thursday, 30th March.

Mr G. A. Brandstater, manager of the Christchurch Sanitarium at Papanui and who was formerly well known in Greymouth, where he resided, arrived last night by overland express, and is spending a few days among his old friends here.

Mrs Alexander Duncan and Miss Ross, of Wanganui, continued their overland journey from Wanganui’ to-day.- They have travelled overland from Picton together and having spent a most enjoyable visit to Greymouth, visiting friends here, proceeded overland to -Christchurch this mOrning.

Mr A. G. Harris, head tuner for the 'Dresden Piano Company, Limited, of Christchurch, arrived in Greymouth last night. Mr Harris lias been with the above firm for the last ten years, and has tuned for most of the professional artists who have visited New Zealand during that time. A marriage has been arranged to take place in London shortly between StaffSurgeon Wood, 8.A., M.D., of H.M.S. Cambrian, Australian station, and Miss iuibi Jessie Seddon, youngest daughter of the late Hon. R. J .Seddon. Miss Seddon is now on her way to the Old Country.

Mrs John Macnamara writes very cheerfully from Christchurch to say that, she is now employed in Dr. de Renzi’s waiting thorn, where she has been since the Doctor arrived back from home. She is very well, indeed, neyer better in her life, and happy, as the Dr and Mrs de Renzi are very kind, to her. She sends greetings to all her old friends in Greymouth. Prior to his departure for Oamaru last week, Mr 11. Norrie, who has been connected with the Hokitika Magistrate’s Court for the past three years, was made a presentation by the officials of the ‘Justice and Minos Department. Captain Richards, in a felicitous speech, congratulated Mr. Norrie on his well deserved promotion, and at the same time expressed the keenest regret at his severance with the local staff with* whom ho had always been a •favourite. Mr J. N. Nalder (Clerk of the Court) supplemented the remarks of Captain Richards, and testified to the painstaking manner in which Mr Norrie had undertaken his duties. He was very sorry to lose the services of one who had been so thorough in his work, and predicted that the departing officer would rapidly rise in the service. Messrs B. Dowell and A. Conway endorsed what had been said in regard to the good qualities of Mr Norrie with whom they were all sorry to part. The presentation consisted of a handsome set of ivory backed brushes, brushes.
