GREYMOUTH CITIZENS’ BAND
ANNUAL MEETING
The yearly meeting of the Greymouth Citizens’ Band was held in the bandroom on Monday night, 20th instant. There was a large muster of the band members. Mr H. McGlashan occupied the chair. The Secretary presented the balance sheet and report, which, all things being considered, was deemed most satisfactory. The Secretary mentioned several matters regarding outstanding accounts, which it was agreed to settle as soon as finances would allow.
The balance sheet showed the present liabilities of the band to be about £6O, against which was shown cash in hand £7 7s Id, value of band room £SO, value of instruments £SO, value of uniforms £lO, making a total of £ll7 7s Id. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
The following officers were elected,; — Patron : Mr Guinness. President': Mr A. C. Russell. Secretary: Mr H. McGlashan. Band Sergeant: Mr S. Young. Corporal: Mr C. Quartermain. Auditors for the year: Messrs Charley and Young. A NEW CONDUCTOR.
The band has been very fortunate in securing the services of Mr Branneff as conductor. He, whilst being a splendid euphonium player, has proved himself a most capable conductor. ' It is the'Tntension of the band to play a programme in a few weeks’ time, so that the public will he able to judge of his capabilities as a conductor. THANKS. A hearty vote of thanks was tendered to Mr Willis, the retiring secretary for liis most valuable services, also a hearty vote of thanks was tendered to Mr Young for his hard work in connection with the band in past years. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated a very enthusiastic meeting.
