Reuter states that the nartly hum; and mutilated body of Ruth Vt heeler, aged 16 years, who applied to Albert Walter, of New York, for -T situation as a stenographer, was found upon a lire escape adjoining Ids rooms. Wolter, prior to the discovery, was arrested for her abduction. He was admitted to bail. NEW YORK, March 23. Wolter is a youth of 18 years. lbdenied seeing Wheeler. Some of her belongings were afterwards found in a chimney above the grate which the police saw him painting when they firs! visited the flat. Eater on Wolter disappeared and was arrested in London. The Daily Mail’s New York correspondent. alleged that numbers of girls visited the flat, and a sinister coincidence is that fifteen girls seeking clerkships disappeared during (be last few weeks. The murder was discovered through Taggart opened it and found the 1•••< 1 > of old clothes on the fire escape. He shoved the bundle from a ledge with a broom, jestingly crying “1 suppose it's a murder.” The parcel fell into a courtyard four storeys below, where Tagart, opened it and found the body 'f the girl. She had been strangled and her arms and legs were severed in 'taler to allow the murderer to put it in a fireplace. It had then been saturated with kerosene. The police had previously searched the moms without finding anything. A woman named Katie Miller. wl,e. lived with Wolter, has been arrested as an accessorv.
