SPORTS AT CRONADUN.
The second annual sports meeting took place at Cronadun on Thursday and was a great success. Tlie weather being perfect drew a large number of visitors from Reeft m and surrounding districts. Owing to only a half-holiday being observed by the business people the train arrangements did not suit, as the train left town at 10 a.m. Had it loft, say, at 1 p.m. the attendance would have been considerably more. The committee wore most jnergetic and the various events wore well contested. Great interest took place in the married women’s race, which drew a large number of entries, but owing to the close finishing the judges wove unable to decide tiro winners. They, therefore, selected the first three who had to run otf. The following are the events:— Maiden Race, 100 yards.—N. Borlasc 1, Bucldand 2. Green 3. Boys’ Chop, 12-inch log (for boys under 17). —Milligan 15sec 1, McCafferty ssec 2. Won easily. Time 40sec. Sheffield Handicap, 120yds.—Pettigrew 11yds 1, Butt 7yds 2. Archer Byds 3, Sack Pate.—Francis 1, Tapp 2, Tho finish was very exciting. Upright Chop, 15-inoh log.—-Knight 40sce 1. Sullivan lOsec 2. Green 30sec and O'Regan 30 sec 3. Time 1.20. Stepping 100 yards.—Stokes 1. Brazil* 2, This was a good event, the winner being only four inches out. 75yds Handicap.—First bent: Bponheinier 1. Moore 2, Shepherd 3. Second heat : Turnbull 1. Archer 2. Balt 3. Final.— Turnbull 1. Moore 2. Shepherd 3. Underhand Chop. 15-inch log.—Knight 40scc 1. Sullivan lOsec 2. Revan scr 5, Wright 40sec 4. Married Women’s Race.—Mrs Kiclv 1.
