PERSONAL NOTES.
Mr T. R. Y. Seddon, M.P., left this morning for Totara Flat, where he, meets the Hon. Thomas Mackenzie this evening. The Minister and party arrive in Oroymonth per Reefton train at 7.30 p.m. Messrs Ronayne (General Manager of the New Zealand Railways), Burnett (chief engineer, maintenance' branch), and Beattie (chief mechanical englheer) are at present on the West Coast on an official visit of inspection of the Westland sei Hon of tho New Zealand Railways. They left Reefton at 9 a.m. by special train, and after inspecting the Reefton line went over to Blackball. The party, which is accompanied hy Messrs C. M. Benzoni Railway Engineer) and A. Duncan (District Traffic Manager) will arrive in town this evening. On Monday the Ross line will he inspected and on Tuesday the journey will be made to OSltt, Mr J. P. Beirne is leaving for Wellington in the Arahura on Monday. He is taking his son Harry to St. Patrick’s College,_ but intends giving him a run through portions of the North Island before leaving him at the College. The Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, has been somewhat indisposed during the last two days, but improved sufficiently yesterday to transact a limited amount of business. His proposed southern visit has been postponed. Mrs Fay, of Sydney, who has been paving her parents, Mr and Mrs O'Shea, In Reefton, an extended visit, left with Mr Fay by the afternoon train for Greymouth, proceeding thenoe via Christchurch, Dunedin and Auckland to their home in Sydney. As young men Mr Jonathan Dixon (District Superintendent of the Westport Coal Company and Mr James McWilliams, the Newcastle strike delegate (who has just completed a tour of this district) worked together in a colliery' in New South Wales. They resumed their old friendship when Mr McWilliams was at Dcnniston and Westport. Mrs Archer, of Wellington, who has been paying a visit to her parents in Reefton, Mr and Mrs Geo. Willis, left by the morning train yesterday for Grey-.' mouth, on her reurn to Wellington. Her fff mother, Mrs Willis, also left for Greymonth to take leave of Mrs Archer and her grandchild.
