VALEDICTORY.
A nuinbei of members of the pr .- posed Scottish Society met at the P.," Ollicc Hotel last night to bid fa row-II t,, Mr. and Mis. .1. Paterson who have Assisted so heartilv in promoting tieestablishment of the Society. Dr. McKav presided and expressed the re gret they all felt at losing Mr. ami Mrs. Paterson from their midst as the\ recognised them not only as excellent citizens bnt as willing to promote lh" Scottish Society to their utmost. A;i token of their esteem he asked Mrs Paterson to accept a gold brooch made of Scottish design and Mr. Paterson a gentleman's travelling case inscribed "Tae Jock frae his flreyinouth lirillrr Scots." Speeches indicative of the regret felt at their departure from the West Coast were mad.- by several of those present and after partaking o' a wee drappic o't the health of their departing friends was duly honored. Mr. Paterson, in replying. I sairl it was aye a pleasure to him and his guid wifie to do wdiat they could I towards uniting their Scottish brethren 'wherever they were. The singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a social evening to a close the only regret being that they were losing Mr. and Mrs. Paterson and family from among them. ■ ■ ■ I ■ ■
