THE HAWKES BAY RACES. NAPIER, October 8. The Hawkes Bay Club’s spring meeting concluded to-day m fine weather with a big attendance. The tote for tbe two days handled £13,818, as against £17,258 last year. Fourteen bookmakers were licensed to-day. The results arc : Mangapapa Hack Hurdles. —M aster Douglas 1, Ancyclc 2, Rawhiti 3. Also ran—Ruabon, Oakburue. Won easily by a length. Time 2.51. Ngatarawa Hack.—Lamsdorff 1, Iranui 2, Parable 3. Also ran—Sandstream, Separator, Polynices, Simons, Highden, Merry Tiger and Thaler. Won by two lengths. Time 1.51. Hawkes Bay Guineas. —Kopu 1, Aborigine 2, Gold Lace 3. Also ran—St. Aiden, Nobel, Chan tense, Remission. Jenkins’s magnificent horsemanship landed Kopiy a winner by a head. There was some distance between the second and third horses. Time 1.41. Temahanga Hurdles.—Aroha 1, Hatley 2, Reservoir 3.
