A STRANGE DEATH.
AN OPEN VERDICT. [PEU PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, October 7. Frederick Charles Eilson, a middle-aged man, was accidentally killed at the Clinstchurch railway station tin's morning. It appears that Eilson was a passenger to Lyttelton hy the 7.20 train. Soon after the train started a shunter named Ainsworth noticed the second carriage give a jolt, and on looking for the cause he saw the body of a man lying on the line. The train was stopped, and when the body was removed it was found that the head’ was almost severed from it. The left hand was cut off, and the body was considerably I rinsed. Death must have been instantaneous. it is stated that Eilson was Doubled lately over some private matters, and tl io police are of the opinion that ho committed suicide. At the inquest hold to-day relative to Jie death of Frederick Charles Eilson, who was run over by a train on (he Lyttelton line this morning and killed, an open verdict was returned. During the evidence it was stated that tho man was awaiting (rial on a charge, of indecent assault. The inquest was the first held in Christchurch' Ly the Coroner alone,
