[by- electric telegraph]. [per press association.] DUNEDIN, May 22. Elizabeth Roy, wife of Alfred Henry Roy, of Ravensbourne, was killed by an electric car at Anderson’s Bay road. At the inquest the jury returned a verdict of accidental death, and added a rider recommending tho erection of an electric light instead of a gas lamp in the locality. The evidence showed that deceased,who was addicted to drink, had not got on well with her husband since ho had taken out a prohibtion order. She left home on Sunday morning. Her husband tried to induce her to go homo yesterday, but left her when she attempted to scratch- him. Gunner John Hay, of tho Permanent Artillery, aged 36, shot himself to-day near Point Halswell, where he was stationed. He leaves a widow and one child. An inquest was held here to-day on the bodv of a gunner named Hay, who shot himself at Fort Ballance yesterday. The wife of deceased deposed that her husband had been under tho impression that thq men at the fort attributed flic death of Gunner Palmer to him. Palmer was the victim of a gnn explosion at the fort some twelve months ago. When witness came homo yesterday lie took up a rifle, and before she could procure assistance ho had shot himself.

Sergeant Heath and Gunner Murdoch deposed to not having heard that deceased was blamed for the death of Palmer, which was purely accidental .

A verdict that deceased shot himself during a fit of temporary insanity was returned. WELLINGTON, May ?3. A hov named Edgar William Roe, while playing in a tree this evening, dropped five or six feet ifi the ground, landing on his feel. He complained of faintness immediately after, and died in a few minutes.
