IN THE AUSTRALIAN BUSH.
A telegram from Berth to the Melbourne Argus states that a lino repairer reported to (he Hopetown postmaster that on Friday, 30th ult., he found a swag near Jedracuttup River, and seven miles further east picked ! up a shovel, bridle, and water-bag. A quarter of a mile further on he discovered a very much knocked-up horse. He then passed pieces of a man's shirt tied to a (olograph post, and came up to a fault in tho line. A telegraph pole had been burnt down and the wire cut. Having made the necessary repairs, ho followed some tracks for about 200 yards into tho scrub, and found a man in a nude state lying on the ground, dying apparently from thirst. The rescuer gave tho sufferer water, and brought him and the horse to Hopetown. Tho man gave his name as J. Everett, aged '69. He said he was a miner and was travelling from Mount Ida to Kundip goldlield. Ho added that he could find no water on the track, and being three days without any he burnt the pole down so as to enable him to cut the telegraph line as a last resource to save his life.
