The following teams will represent Brunner in titeir matches with the Stars on Saturday:—

The following team will represent the Blackball Rovers Football Chib in their match with the Rocfton Juniors at Reefton. on Saturday,’ viz—Full-back, W. Kcil; three-quarters, Lisbon, Gosline and Ripner: five-eighths, C. Rhodes: half, F. Jackson; forwards: Smith,' Meadowcroft, Moore, Hunter, Walker (2), Neilson, Nuttall and Harris. Emergencies— R. Long and T. Auld. Last evening the members of the Grey Football Chib met at the Gymnasium to

make a presentation to Mr E. Irvine, a prominent member of their President Fifteen, who has been transferred from the local post office to the Rocfton branch. Mr O’Donnell, in making the presentation, referred to the loss the club was sustaining through Mr Irving’s departure, but as it meant promotion he hoped that ho would be successful, both on and off the field, in Rcofion, as ho was while in Grevmouth.

A very enjoyable social was given to the sailors in port by the W.C.T.U. on Tuesday evening. The President (Mrs Gaskin) spoke a few words of welcome, and expressed pleasure at seeing so many ] present. The following took part in the programme: Songs, Mesdamcs Neil, Parkinson, Messrs Clninn, F. Lawn and Tindale ; recitations —Miss R. Taylor and Mr Lawton; piano solo—Miss B. Parkinson. On Saturday, at 3 p.m., at the rooms of Mark Sprot and Go., auctioneers, an important unreserved sale of bicycles and sundries will take place, particulars of which may ho obtained from our advertising columns. The well-known schooner Clyde, Captain Smith, arrived at Wellington from Greymouth on Wednesday morning, the 9th instant, with a cargo of timber. The vessel left Greymouth on Saturday (sth), and had a rough passage the whole way up. A very heavy sea was running in • Cook Straits on Tuesday, and the vessel ( broke her main boom, and had one of her jibs carried away. The schooner became almost unmanagobalo in the big seaway,. when her Room broke, but Captain Smith and his crew managed to splice the spar and sail the vcsscl'into port on Wednesday morning. Ihe services at the church and graveside were conducted by the Revs. N. S Brnett, of Brunnerton, and R. M. G. McDowall, of Totara Flat, who paid a worthy tribute eulogistic of the life of deceased as a husband, father, and example to those around him.
