News has been received .that Andrew, Northoy, aged 30 (from the Thames) was; killed while engaged at llio Totara Tim- _ lifer Company’s bush at Taupo. WELLINGTON, May 17. Lata last night an electric tram running on iho ivertt I'erracc track: ran down a couple of women, who suddenly emerged 'from the reserve in that locality and stepped right between the rads, ihe weather was stormy at the time, and the’night was very dark. _ On tho motorman examining tho women he found one of them conscious and in a few moments she recovered enough to stand. Silo Seemed anxioiis to got away, hut in answer to questions gave her name and address, which afterwards proved to bo false. The other woman was in a bad plight, aaid was removed to the hospital suffering from a fractured skull. She remained in the institution all last uHit and to-day unidentified, but late tins evening was; identified by Alfred Chynowetli as bis wife Catherine aged 3b. She is still unconscious, and is not likely to recover. A whisky bottle wasr_ found at the spot where the accident occurred. Two men, who were with the women, ran away.
