AN ACCOUNTANTS DISPUTE.
BY ELECTIUC TELEUKAPU —COPVUIGHI j [pEIS PHESS ASSOCIATION.] LONDON, March 2. Tlio I'rivy Council has advised the King not to confer a charter on the Victorian Accountants. MELBOURNE,. This Day. The Accountants' application referred to in the cable, practically came ['rem three institutes, namely, the Victorjan, Ballarat, and the Federal Institute, which is another Melbourne society. They applied for a charter ■or the title' of "Incorporated Institute of Accountants of Victoria." Opposition was manifested to the proposal by other societies, arid particularly by the Sydney ones. Three petitions "were sent to England, asking that the request be not. granted. The reason for the opposition was that there is at present, no chartered Institute of Accountants in Australia, all societies standing on their own. There is a strong feeling in favor of one chartered institute being formed for the whole of the Commonwealth.
