THE POST OFFICE.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Complaints are rife in regard to the inconvenience |>eople. are subjected to now that the Post Ollicc lias been slutted l.aek, and which will have to do duty for the next twelve months or more. Not on y has the footpath been narowed by fully one-half, but the temporary entrance from Hospital street is even worse. During the last few nights persons have been jostling one another in the dark between the corner and the office, owing to the want of a lamp, and in addition have had to flounder through inches of mud. Why is nothing done to remedy the matter.' It is apparently the old story, "Red Tape The Public Works Department probably assert it is the duty of the Postal Department to son to it, whilst, the former assert to the contrary, and whilst this tommyrot i.s going on the public, have to Buffer. 1 am, etc., — MERCHANT.
[Our correspondent is a little niconsider ate. During such works as those, now go ins on, a little inconvenience should will ingly bo put up with. —Ed., E.S.]
