OUR KUMARA LETTER.
(OTJB OWN COERESPONDBNT.)
KtrjiAEA, July 18. A meeting convened for the purpose of arranging a suitable reception to our returning troopers was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening when it was decided to throw m their lot with the Fire Brigade and invite the troopers to. the Grand Fancy Dress Ball to be he'd on. the 26th inst. The members of the Borough Council will as in previous cases welcome the returning soldiers. I learn that the members of the Brigade will hold a grand parade headed by theCathoUc band who have generously offered their services on the night of the Ball.
Word reached town yesterday of the death of Mrs Davis, wife of Captain Davis, who for a number of years had charge of the Kumara Volunteers when that body existed. The deceased lany was held in high respect and her many friends will hear of her demise with regret.
