THE HALF MILLION LOAN.

Floated. Wellington, April 23. Tho half-million four per cent debenture loan, put on the market by tho Government under the authority of tho Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Act, has been floated. Tho tenders, which closed at noon tc-day, were opened in tho presoneo of the Colonial Treasurer and Auditor-Genera!. There were 110 tenders received for an aggregate sum of £BOI,BOO at the average price of Is above par, 00 for tho amount of £5,000 and under. The amount tendered for over par was £140,000. The average of the total over par was Is and Gd. About £150,000 was tendered for from Australia. No tenders wero sent in by any Government departments in tho colony. Tho Premier says that on the whole the Joan is very satisfactory, and he is well pleased.
