The Huili Company of the Fourth Punjaub Infantry had a severe engagement witn 1000 bandits between Chingwantao and Singfu. Major A R Browning and a Sepoy were killed. Eeinforcements have been sent. 50,000 Shantung coolios have been ■shipped to Port Arthur, Niuchwang. and Viadivostock to replaco tho Chinese labourers killed and expelled from Manchuria last autumn.
Russia is trying to securo from Corea a lease of Heunghai Bay, some 70 miles north of Fussan.
