PARAPARA IRON, &c.

We are glad to learn that the samples of iron ore, limestone, coal, and coke, obtained same time ago from this district, have recently been tested by the Onehunga Ironworks Company, and the result may shortly be made public. The Company’s works were re-opened lately

for the purpose of testing this material. It is stated that if the result of the test is satisfactory immediate steps will be taken towards developing the deposits in this district. In this connection, we reprint the following paragraph form the Westport Star : “ The Onehunga Ironworks Company have apprised the Government that they intend to make an effort to earn the bonus of £250 offered for the production of 500 tons of iron from titanic ironsand, and have requested that an expert should be appointed to watch their smelting operations.”
